Little Local Conversations
Episode 17: Julie Fei-Fan Balzer (Painter/Printmaker/Collage Artist)
Meet Julie Fei-Fan Balzer! She's a painter, printmaker, and collage artist here in Watertown. We chat about her winding journey as a self-taught artist from her early rejections from scrapbooking magazines to snowballing hard work and luck into becoming a professional artist with tens of thousands of online followers (though we also talk about vanity versus practicality with social media numbers and how she views it now at this point in her career), her view of using failure to fuel you rather than defeat you to combat perfectionist inclinations, and the importance for her of helping people make the art they want to make and not simply copying her.
